Children’s and junior choirs possess a naturally distinctive ministry. The mission of choirs is twofold. First and foremost, their mission is to lead the congregation in its expression of faith through music. Second, their mission is to encourage active participation in all parts of the mass by children and adolescents, to provide a nurturing environment for children and adolescents to learn to act as a community of faith, and to provide families a role for their children and a means of making mass accessible to their children. Our Children’s and Junior Choirs not only assist in the ministry of music for the Mass, but also seek to enrich the lives of youth through music activities, and to promote their sense of self-esteem, accomplishment, and pride in themselves and their role in the church.
The Children’s Choir sings at the 9:30 AM Sunday Family Masses and the Junior Choir sing at the 11:30 AM Mass that follows. Often times, members of the Junior Choir will assist in the canting of these Masses. Both groups have also sung at First Communion Masses.
