Parish Pastoral Council

The Parish Pastoral Council is the primary advisory committee with whom the pastor and the administrative staff consult on matters of parish policy. The council is composed of twelve lay members appointed by the pastor.     Ex officio members are:  the Pastor, any Priest working in the parish, and Deacons.

The purpose of the Council is to explore and study with the pastor, matters of a "pastoral nature", that is those areas of life that touch the spiritual and faith development of the parish members. It is also to serve as a consultative body to the pastor by making evaluations and recommendations, and to provide an effective vehicle for planning and communication within the parish.

While the Council makes sure planning moves forward, it neither assumes an expertise that is more appropriate to another parish group, nor involves itself in the administration of the parish.

Pastoral Council meetings are held on the 1st Sunday of each month in the rectory meeting room. All regularly scheduled meetings are open to the parish. Anyone wishing to bring an issue to Council for its consideration may do so by notifying the vice-chair, Ron Hallee, of the topic to be discussed at least one week in advance of the meeting and by requesting to be placed on the meeting agenda.

The Pastoral Council of each parish is linked to the Archdiocese of Boston via the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council, which assists the Archbishop in the same manner as the Pastoral Council to the Pastor.  We encourage you to visit this site and look over the work they are doing.
